We took advantage of the wonderful weather after lunch and sent our DEAR time outside. The kids"ahhhhh, this was so relaxing". I had to agree.....
We are getting familiar with poetry by reading some we love! The class is loving poetry--crazy how these kiddos are getting into reading poetry.
They have even converted Shel Silverstein poems into songs!! The actresses from room 66 are about to embark on thier journey to prep for the play "Ramona". I can't wait to watch them on the big stage--- break a leg ;0)
We are rocking and rolling in government! My third graders are pumped up about the Bill of Rights. They are having conversations at dinner time with their families and how they affect us now.
We talked about how the Bill of Rights were written over 200 years ago and our government still argues about them. We also decided as a class that our government doesn't talk about things, they argue! Many students who have a lawyer as a mom or dad could relate to that. As a teacher it has been nice to go back to the facts of government! Living in an age where these students, are exposed to so much media and a day when our own government is in the midst of so many changes its nice to dust off the textbooks and dig back deep into what the black and white of government really is! Loads of fun all around!!!!! |
